VOLTA Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley 2005
92 points”Volta’s 2005 Napa Cabernet is their debut vintage. It’s $60, and is one of the weeks “best buys” for Cabernet. Smooth and refined, offering aromas of raspberry, black cherry and plum. Full-bodied and complex, with concentrated flavors that are supple and graceful, ending with fine-grained tannins and a hint of sandalwood. Drink now through 2017. 291 cases made.” —James Laube

93 points”This nose is really, really nice. There’s black licorice and a heavy dose of solid plum and black fruits. Great fruit profile without crazy overdone oak. A heavy concentration of fruit on the palate. A big wine with big shoulders and big quality of black fruit on the back end. The fruit source is clearly excellent on this wine. Great structure with chocolate flavors coming through and a lot of lusciousness. Ripe and focused with good length that wraps around your whole mouth.
I think it’s spectacular. “— Gary Vaynerchuk

“I was particularly taken with the balance of this wine- a finely thread symmetry of fruit tannin and acidity. The elegance and restraint is refreshing for a new producer and the quality to price ratio here is incredible. This first release represents one of the finest values in the Napa Valley” – Jason Alexander, Vintrust, former Wine Director at Wine Spectator Grand Award-winning Restaurant Gary Danko and Michelin two star Cyrus Restaurant
#2 Most Interesting Wine of 2008This is very, very good. The blackberry and plum coming off this wine is outrageously pure on the nose and on the palate, and the mouthfeel is smooth as silk. That Howell Mountain fruit is somehow lush but at the same time the tannins have a laser focus”. — Joe Roberts

My staff and I were very impressed with this wine. The grapes came from hillside fruit on top of Howell Mountain. All of the grapes were hand picked, responsibly farmed, and certified organic.
The wine had a deep, rich hue, a great silky mouth feel, and a lingering bold finish. I also noticed that it also had plenty of tannic structure to insure age ability. We were also very impressed with the proprietor’s attention to detail and their winemaking philosophy. It is obvious that quality comes first. —Neil Alderoty

This is a great story of 2 gentlemen who have a vision of producing a limited amount of very, very nice wine; enough to keep them busy and in the game. It’s a lifestyle often dreamed about by many, but only realized by a number of enthusiastic, goal-oriented, quality conscious people. The “shhhh” factor is present here as is the “crème de la crème” sine only 291 cases were produced of this inaugural release wine. A wine rich and juicy, lively and decadent, bold and flirtatious.
