The Lycée Français de New York is a private and independent bilingual school with students from pre-kindergarten to twelfth grade and is based in Manhattan, New York. The Gala is the school’s largest fundraiser of the year and included a live and silent auction with some cases of Volta Wine as an option. For entertainment a special performance by Martin Solveig, an international DJ and music producer. This years Gala was a great success and Volta Wine is proud of having contributed.

Diverse Community

Volta Wine recognizes that the Lycée Français de New York is a great school to work with and represents a solid education and a strong community. Parents of these students work very hard to be involved in activities and to help create a focused and fun environment for their children. Since the birth of the school in 1935, children from more than 150 nationalities have been represented and currently there are 1350 students representing 50 different nationalities attending. Celebrity alumni include Danielle Steel, a best-selling novelist, and two band members from The Strokes, lead singer Julian Casablancas and bassist Nikolai Fraiture.

Honored Guest

The theme of the Gala this year was L’esprit d’équipe which translates to “Team Spirit”. The honored guest was Thierry Henry who is an international soccer champion which includes the 1998 World Cup Championship when he played for France. He now plays for and is the captain of the New York Red Bulls.

As soccer has grown in North America most cities have teams with many young fans and Thierry has become a local hero in New York City. Henry works alongside UNICEF and stands against racism which makes him a great role-model for young minds. Volta Wine was proud to sponsor an event with such a distinguished gentlemen of sport and humanity.

High Standards and Curriculum

Volta Wine is also impressed with the curriculum that is offered at Lycée Français de New York. Not only is the school bilingual, teaching subjects in French and English, the school gives the students an understanding of the European culture. The blending of the American and European education standards benefits each student therefore setting an example of excellence and quality amongst other private schools in the United States and around the world.

Lycée Français de New York focuses on academic excellence, physical, intellectual and emotional balance. This is the reason we at Volta Wine decided to get involved in supporting events and the community that surrounds this school.

Fun and Physical

Not only does Lycée Français de New York have an incredible academic curriculum, the school also prides itself on sports and teams. The school believes in fun and the emotional and physical benefits that sports provide. With over 30 teams representing Lycée including soccer, basketball and cross-country, it takes events like the Gala to provide the funds for well-maintained facilities and the latest equipment available for the students to stay fit and reach the goals that they have set out for themselves.

Final Thoughts

We look forward to the Lycée Français de New York’s 16th Gala in 2015 and hope to participate once again. The faculty and students are fantastic representatives of diversity and high level education that believe in community and excellence all at the same time. Volta are delighted to be involved with such an establishment and look forward to offering our continued support in years to come.
